Opened on the second floor of Buena Park’s shopping, dining, and entertainment destination The Source in early May 2025 – several months after the opening of a smaller, seemingly unrelated first-floor space called The Gallery LAP – The Gallery by KARTUS specializes in “K-Art” – Korean artwork – and is expected to host monthly exhibitions. As of July 2025, the opening exhibition K-Art California: Wandering Through continued to occupy the space.
This exhibition features 20 different artists’ paintings and sculptures, including unicorns from Park Dongjin, resin sculptures of people in flight by Lee Waeonsuk, cosmic art from Park Jaeman, and multiple three-dimensional flower-inspired pieces by Choi Hang Gyu. The Gallery also sells a small collection of merchandise including hats, bags, and – improbably – Garfield plushes.
Admission and parking are free. Formerly occupied by clothing store Princeton, the Gallery by KARTUS is adjacent to The Bakery Cafe, so guests can move freely between perusing art, enjoying coffee or pastries, or sitting at one of The Gallery’s multiple cafe- or workstation-sized tables; laptops and backpacks were scattered around on our latest visit.
