Sorry, Not Sorry Creamery

A young Las Vegas-based chain brings legitimately distinctive ice cream flavors close to OC

Does Orange County really need another ice cream parlor? Until we visited the Long Beach location of Sorry, Not Sorry Creamery – a Las Vegas-based chain with two OC-adjacent locations – we would have said “no, we’re good” (see: Saffron & Rose, McConnell’s, Salt & Straw, Tocumbo, Pampas Helados Argentinos). But after seeing Sorry, Not Sorry’s menu and sampling its ice creams, we’re big fans: this is what Bruster’s or Handel’s could be with stronger flavors and a little more Asian fusion energy.

By “stronger,” we mean “more intense,” not “more.” Sorry, Not Sorry offers 16 standard flavors, divided into 13 “classics” and three vegan oak milk ice creams, plus four to five seasonal flavors. On our April 2026 visit, four quarterly Brewed & Bold flavors were joined by a limited-time fifth seasonal flavor, each representing an Asian-American twist on a common coffee or tea ice cream recipe. Classic flavors ranged from bumbleberry cheesecake crumble and campire s’mores to sea salt & caramel, with triple chocolate chunk brownie as the menu’s closest approximation of a basic flavor. Prices range from $5.25 for a kid’s scoop to $9 for a double, with four-scoop flights at $15. Three toppings (almonds, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup) are each 50 cents, though none is actually necessary in our view; these ice creams come loaded with flavor, and you can sample any of them before committing to a full scoop. We went with two flights to try eight of the flavors.

The first flight covered most of the Brewed & Bold seasonals – matchaberry brownie, Thai tea butter crunch, and vegan Vietnamese coffee – plus mint chocolate chunk, one of Sorry, Not Sorry’s classics. Made with Andes and York candies, mint chocolate chunk was wonderfully, powerfully minty with flecks of chocolate, quite possibly the best of everything we tried. The chain’s balancing of tea and butter-rich creams worked wonders with both the Thai tea and matchaberry flavors, the former using butter crunch cookies to create added flavor depth and texture, the latter playing similar texture-taste tricks with large chunks of matcha brownies, sweet strawberry cream, and strong matcha base. Only the vegan Vietnamese coffee underwhelmed, relying on condensed coconut milk and tiramisu to accent a coffee base that struck us as too creamy and sour without traditional robusta coffee bitterness or strength. Four waffle cone discs are included with the flight, easily breaking apart into bite-sized chunks to add further texture to the scoops.

Our second set of four flavors wrapped up the seasonal assortment by choosing the black sesame cookies and cream and limited-edition hojicha miso chip flavors, adding two classics – salted pistachio brittle and ube honeycomb (chosen after sampling the milder and more floral classic flavor honey lavender) – to complete the flight. We really enjoyed both of the seasonals, particularly the strong hojicha tea, sweet umami miso chocolate chip cookie, and salted caramel combination, which  like standard hojicha had a lot more depth of flavor than one might guess from its dull brown appearance. The black sesame combination was appropriately nutty but more cream-forward than we generally prefer, though its name more than hinted at that outcome, while the ube honeycomb was atypically complex (yet surprisingly not shock purple) for an ube scoop, and the pistachio brittle had plenty of actual pistachio flavor, despite lacking full or recognizably chopped nut pieces.

One consistent thread across all of these flavors was ingredient quality: From the ice cream bases to the brownies, fruit flavors, sesame, and pistachio brittle, every flavor tasted like a well-realized version of its concept. And very few of the flavors were basic: Yes, many of the recipes riff on classics, but the execution is generally plus-plus level without seeming over the top. So while Orange County does have plenty of great ice cream shops, Sorry, Not Sorry is impressive enough that we’d certainly like to see it keep expanding downwards from south LA County. Until that happens, we’ll be making the occasional drive up to Long Beach or Cerritos to try whatever’s new, and hopefully keep exploring the list of classics, as well.
