Muckenthaler Cultural Center

In Fullerton, an outdoor fine and performing arts venue with indoor galleries

Affectionately known as “The Muck,” Fullerton’s Muckenthaler Cultural Center combines outdoor sculpture and sunset grass and wildflower gardens with a performing arts stage, event spaces, indoor art galleries, a recording studio, and classrooms. Since 1999, the main 18-room building – known as the Muckenthaler Mansion – has been listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, and is available as a venue for weddings. Access to the outdoor spaces is generally permitted throughout the entire week, including weekends and evenings, limited only by roughly 100 (typically evening hours) events each year.

Concerts and dance performances are typically highlighted on The Muck’s Instagram account, with tickets going for $35 (non-members) or $20 (members). The indoor art gallery is available for public viewing five days a week at a $5 per person charge, and generally features one exhibition at a time for two or three months. Parking is free in a reasonably sized lot on the Center’s hill.
