More Yogurt

Straight from Shanghai, this yogurt smoothie chain chose Tustin for its first U.S. location

Orange County and LA hit peak frozen yogurt at some point in the mid-2000s, as second-wave Korean yogurt shops Pinkberry, Red Mango, and Yogurtland permanently altered the dessert space, oversaturating the market until the mid-2010s, when 75% of locations closed down. Ten years later, new yogurt shops have become rarities, and aren’t particularly popular: Chinese brand Yomie’s Rice x Yogurt opened a Tustin location at The District at Tustin Legacy in 2022, closing after less than three years. Soon thereafter, another Shanghai-based yogurt chain announced that it was taking over the same spot – the amusingly named More Yogurt. With over 1,600 locations worldwide, its Tustin store opened in June 2026 after around a year of construction, and represents the chain’s first outpost in the United States.

Founded in the wake of the prior yogurt dessert collapse, More Yogurt isn’t here to dispense precious swirls of frozen yogurt; like Yomie’s, it specializes in freshly-made smoothies, claiming to have invented the concept of an avocado yogurt smoothie ($7). For its initial drink menu, versions pairing avocados with almonds ($8) or pistachios ($8.50) are also available, as are avocado-less versions with hawthorn flakes ($6), Oreo cookies ($7), or blueberries ($8); toppings ranging from oats to ground nuts can be added for 60 cents to $1 each. Additionally, pre-made croissants with yogurt ($8.45), cold brew yogurt bowls ($8 to $8.45), chocolate-fruit crunch bowls ($8), and drinkable yogurt pouches ($3.45) are available in fridges before you reach the payment counter. Everything here – underscore everything – looks really nice, and we were tempted by the displays to order more than just drinks on our first visit.

To cut right to the chase, we didn’t like either of the drinks we sampled at More Yogurt, even though they should have been easy wins given our deep love for similar frozen yogurt treats. The blueberry yogurt smoothie impressed on looks, arriving with sliced fresh blueberries on top and a naturally light purple color, but immediately misfired on flavor and texture – a little too watery and sour, with a weird aftertaste that was heavier on yogurt culture than fruit or sweetness. While we almost expected similar sourness to impact the Oreo yogurt smoothie, it was instead really plain, more like a sweetened chocolate milk with gritty cookie bits than anything obviously yogurty.

Neither of the two of us who ordered drinks liked the one we chose – not good for $7 to $8 smoothies – so we swapped and were less disappointed, but also not thrilled. “No More Yogurt” was the immediate and obvious comment, but the more accurate version would be no more yogurt here. Unless something major changes on the menu, we’re not expecting to revisit More Yogurt in the future, but the experience reminded us of how long it’s been since we’ve had Korean-style yogurt treats, an omission we’ll likely correct as a result of this visit.
