Mía & More

This rapidly expanding Vietnamese snack and drink chain specializes in sugarcane juice and desserts

Pronounced mee-ah, the Vietnamese word mía means “sugar cane,” which when squeezed using an industrial press produces a sweet juice that can be used as a healthier, less concentrated substitute for simple syrup or artificial sweetener. Though Orange County restaurants and kiosks have sold sugar cane drinks for many years, a chain named Mía & More began expanding here in 2025 and 2026, opening three locations across Fountain Valley and Garden Grove. Founded in Vietnam around 2012 and now franchising throughout at least seven states, the chain’s locations all offer a core of mía-based teas, fruit teas, and slushies, varying somewhat in the “& more part” – the Fountain Valley store we visited in mid-2026 offered a larger-than-expected collection of Vietnamese street foods ranging from $7.50 (shrimp spring rolls) to $11 (banh trang nuong “pizza”).

[Worth a brief note: Mía & More’s initial OC locations are geographically interesting. The Fountain Valley shop sits immediately next to two other drink places – a just-closed location of Sharetea and a Starbucks – in the Brodard / Ini Ristorante plaza, while the Garden Grove locations are inside the Lucky Seafood supermarket (“Mía & More Lucky”), and in a plaza next to Oc & Lau, Moozi Tea Bar, and Bake & Che. The chain’s franchisees appear to be very comfortable setting up shop very close to direct competitors in plazas that have proven popular with fans of Vietnamese drinks and food.]

Because we weren’t expecting to find so many lunch-worthy choices when we arrived for our first visit, we wound up skipping roughly $11 favorites including banh trang tron rice paper salad, papaya salad, and bot chien fried rice flour cakes, as well as $9 bo bia jicama/sausage rolls. Instead, we tried the banh trang cuon rice paper rolls ($9.70), a set of three rolls sliced into a dozen bite-sized pieces, using most of the same ingredients from the rice paper salad (green mango, peanut, egg, dried shrimp, beef jerky, dried onion, and coriander) in more easily eaten, dippable form. Their softened rice paper shells represent a compromise between the lightly crunchy banh trang tron and conventional spring rolls, while the dip provides a more powerful, citrus-like tamarind flavor with mayo. We enjoyed Mía & More’s version, which is notably freshly made to order and can be customized to remove ingredients if necessary.

We also sampled three drinks from Mía & More’s collection of roughly 45 options, almost all priced from $6.50 to $7 before modifications. From the signature sugar cane juice collection, we ordered the passion fruit cane ($7), which arrived as an atypically yellow-ish green color due to its combination of freshly pressed cane juice with passion fruit and seeds; frothed at the top, this drink simultaneously did justice to both the lightly herbal cane base and the tropical, almost citric fruit without any artificial flavor between them. Creamy coco cane ($7) combined coconut milk, coconut juice, and sugarcane juice in another decidedly tropical mix that was even more pronounced in its green base and coconut layers – quite refreshing.

Last and arguably least was matcha coffee ($6.50), a cup of ca phe sua da coffee topped with a matcha foam base. We loved the flavors and textures of the Vietnamese condensed milk coffee and matcha cream cap, but the cup was ridiculously loaded with ice – literally 2/3 to 3/4 of its volume. For that reason alone, we wouldn’t order a coffee drink here again, though other options (banana cream ube, sugarcane, and black sugar) are certainly enticing, and all between $6 and $6.50.

Between che- and tofu-focused desserts ($5.50 to $7), smoothies ($7 to $8), and additional tea options, we have plenty left to try at Mía & More. We’ll update this article with more thoughts and details whenever that happens.
