Although LA’s Petersen Automotive Museum is many times larger and hosts rotating exhibitions, the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin is a fun alternative for Orange County residents – a hangar-sized indoor space with over 100 vehicles from Dick and John Marconi’s formerly private collection. In addition to a comparatively small collection of race cars, motorcycles, and bicycles, the Marconi lets guests explore famous movie cars such as the 1989 Batmobile and 1982 DeLorean DMC12, as well as the Dukes of Hazzard’s General Lee, Knight Rider’s K.I.T.T., and classic street-ready vehicles ranging from Ferrari sportscars to a beautifully preserved 1957 Ford Thunderbird.
Most of the Marconi Museum is a single large room you can explore from corner to corner, peeking directly into car windows; several vehicles can also be found in various states of repair inside a working garage, with others stacked on lifts or mounted on the walls. Expect to spend an hour or so exploring the collection, and a few minutes at the small gift shop. Admission is $20 per adult, $10 for students over age 13, and free for children; discounted $15 tickets are offered for seniors, law enforcement, military, and first responders.
