Mad Coffee

We generally have plenty of thoughts regarding coffee shops we visit, but don’t have much to say about Mad Coffee. Located inside a Santa Ana restaurant named Rafael’s Kitchen and Pizza, Mad Coffee offers a limited menu almost entirely focused on flavored coffees, plus a display case with relatively basic cookies and croissants. When we visited, most of the tables appeared to be Rafael’s guests with actual meals, while Mad customers occupied temporary seats as they waited 10 or 15 minutes for drinks to go.

Standard coffee drinks range from $3.50 (espresso) to $7.50 (mocha), with specialty drinks based on housemade syrups at $7.25 (12 oz.) to $7.75 (16 oz.). Mad offers common choices including vanilla and Spanish lattes, as well as novelties such as lattes with banana bread, carrot cake, orange creamsicle, and churro flavors. Two tea lattes, matcha and chai, are also available for $7.50 to $8, as are basic iced teas ($4) and chais ($6.25).
