Layer Cake Bakery – Closed

Stonecreek Plaza has long been home to a collection of “fine” food establishments that either were never particularly great, or declined over the years to become merely decent now. Just steps away from the fine Vietnamese food you can find at Pho Ba Co, and only a little further from fine Thai food at Thai Kitchen, Layer Cake Bakery spent nearly two decades offering fine macarons, pastries, and full-sized cakes. Late in 2025, new ownership took it over and quietly began transitioning the space to a new name.

Across several visits to the original Layer Cake, both dine-in and carry-out, we tried cookies, cakes, tarts, and cupcakes, none particularly memorable beyond being serviceable. Display cases nicely presented full-sized cakes and cupcakes that sometimes looked really nice, though in our experiences, what should have been moist inside was too often a little dry, as if items had been in the case for a while. Similarly, though the bakery offered a small selection of drinks, they tended to be pretty basic compared with local specialty destinations, both in ambition and execution.
