Irvine Farmers Market

One of Orange County's best farmers markets sprawls in a church parking lot every Saturday morning

Thirty years after it first opened, and 10 years after it relocated from the University Center near UC Irvine to a spacious parking area at Mariners Church, the Irvine Farmers Market remains one of the county’s very best outdoor markets. Even in colder months (say, November) when farmers markets elsewhere in the country are non-operational, this location gives the community access to tons of fresh, locally-grown produce, as well as vendors selling everything from flowers, tamales, honey, and nuts to aguas frescas and coffee. Several vendors specialize in clothing and jewelry, while others offer flowers, bonzai trees, various types of oil, and home decor items.

This is an ideal place for foodies. As of fall 2025, the Irvine Farmers Market’s prepared food vendors are arranged in a corridor offering everything from baked goods, Polish sausages, and Bolivian meat pies to musubi, sushi, and yakitori, Spanish omelets, Korean BBQ, crepes, kabobs, Chinese dumplings, fruit pies, popsicles, donuts, and Belgian fries. Some of the vendors sell items both as ready-to-eat or heating/assembly-required at home; others purely focus on one or the other.

Considerably larger than the Great Park Farmers Market, which operates on Sundays, the Irvine Farmers Market is officially open for four hours on Saturday mornings: 8am to 12pm. Parking is free, and though you’ll likely pay higher-than-supermarket prices for produce purchased here, the quality and variety of specific nuts (including numerous glazed versions) and fruits (particularly citrus, grapes, and plums) tend to be comparatively excellent. Bring cash, a reusable bag or two, and an empty stomach.
