Mission Viejo’s Crown Valley Market Place is a Middle Eastern supermarket owned by the same family as Irvine’s popular, long-running Super Irvine, which in 2022 was pushed out of its original location to make room for the modern Japanese supermarket Tokyo Central. Collectively, Crown Valley Market Place and Super Irvine were amongst Orange County’s earliest Middle Eastern grocers, and the largest until rival Wholesome Choice opened in 2004.
Crown Valley Market Place offers similar collections of imported pistachios, figs, spices, teas, sodas, and other packaged goods straight from Middle Eastern countries and local producers; pre-made dips, salads, and cheeses are available with the Super Irvine logo. An in-house bakery makes bread, and a produce section spills out onto the covered front patio with specially priced fruits and vegetables. The full-fledged restaurant Bahar has a prominent staircase inside the market and a ground-level entrance outside, serving traditional Persian kabobs, soups, polo rice dishes, and desserts.
