Céd Coffee & Donut
A small, aesthetically driven coffee, tea, and pastry shop in Garden Grove
Located steps away from Mycha (formerly Matcha Cafe Maiko) and QT Golden Market Place in Garden Grove, Céd (like “seed”) is a small, Korea-influenced coffee and donut shop appealing to Instagram’s “aesthetic” crowd with cute presentations, including teddy bear-shaped cookies and trendy drinks. Their speciality is sweet milk-topped einspanners, which cover either coffee or tea with a thick layer of dense cream that initially stays separate from and gently seeps into the layers of milk, coffee/tea, and ice below. Similarly on trend locally, sweet corn drinks and donuts are also conspicuously available.
Somewhat confusingly, the menu references “mizuba latte,” “mizuba einspanner,” and four other mizuba drinks, which guests are supposed to know – but won’t – is a specific brand name for matcha tea powder. Two additional “unsweetened” matcha drinks made with “velvety, sweet” yorokobi matcha powder only add to the potential for confusion.
We enjoyed but weren’t blown away by pistachio versions of both Céd’s standard coffee and mizuba matcha tea; same with their strawberry latte and strawberry cookies. They photograph pretty well, though!
