As the smallest of three official City of Irvine art attractions, Art at City Hall uses multiple spaces inside Irvine City Hall to host several rotating exhibitions each year. From historically significant photographs, such as The Great Picture – the world’s largest photograph, captured in Irvine with the world’s largest camera – to noteworthy arts and crafts created by local students, Art at City Hall hangs objects in the publicly accessible parts of the building’s first, second, and third floors. Administrative offices and council chambers are excluded, and off-limits to the public.
There is no charge to view the Art at City Hall exhibitions, which can be seen only on weekdays during standard business hours – nighttime access is limited – and will likely consume between 10 and 30 minutes of your time, depending on the exhibition. Free parking is available in a lot immediately behind the building, and shared with the Irvine Police Department. Those seeking larger exhibitions and/or weekend hours will find options at the city’s other art spaces, the Irvine Fine Arts Center and Great Park Gallery.
