Located immediately off the I-405 freeway near Ikea, OCMA, and South Coast Plaza, South Coast Collection (SOCO) is a nearly square-shaped plaza where roughly 40 upscale retailers and restaurants surround parking, a central courtyard, and a smaller food hall/service business collection called The OC Mix. Furniture and decor retailers dominate SOCO’s spaces, notably including Design With Reach, King Living, La-Z-Boy, Rejuvenation, Room & Board, and multiple stores specializing in marble, tiles, lighting, bedding, and carpeting.
In addition to SOCO restaurants such as American Roast House (ARC), Butcher’s House, Italian restaurant Il Girasole, French bistro Moulin, and dessert shop Susiecakes, the OC Mix adds a lot of drink shops – Birdie Bowl & Juicery, Kratom Kava Bar, Portola Coffee, Sunright Tea Studio, and We Olive & Wine Bar. As the original home of Michelin-starred (and currently closed) Taco Maria, which has since been replaced with a Santa Monica-based burger bar called Palms ‘n Patties, the OC Mix feels somewhat underutilized at the moment, but is adding new vendors such as the rock climbing-inspired ice cream shop Climb. There’s plenty of free parking at SOCO, and its lot is used every Saturday morning for the really nice SoCo Farmers Market, as well as hosting multiple electric vehicle chargers with a range of different supported connectors.
