Le Kream – LA

Until Dominique Ansel tinkered with the nearly 100-year-old French croissant formula to create his now-famous Cronuts, it was rare to see dessert shops focus substantially or exclusively on croissant riffs – today, there are myriad variations. One of Southern California’s more compelling versions can be found in LA’s Koreatown at Le Kream, which opened in early 2025 with two main focuses: cube-shaped croissants called Kream Bombs, and einspanner-style drinks called Kream Spanners. Creamless drinks and croissant-less desserts are also available.

Although we only sampled their two signature offerings, each was superb: The crispy exterior, soft interior, and ample cream filling of the Pistachio Kream Bomb ($6.90) offered a more aesthetically pleasing (if more challenging to cut) take on standard croissants, while the intense pistachio flavor and super-thick einspanner cream of the Pistachio Kream Spanner ($7) were ideal for nut fans. We enjoyed each so thoroughly that we’d feel conflicted choosing other flavors instead on a future visit.
