Kyoto Garden – LA

A tranquil, beautiful Japanese-style garden space in Los Angeles

Described by the DoubleTree Hilton Los Angeles Downtown as “our oasis in the city,” the Kyoto Garden is amongst several Japanese-style gardens located just north of Orange County, here in the heart of LA’s Little Tokyo district. An elevator from the DoubleTree lobby leads up to the “G” (garden) level of the former Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens, where a half-acre space hosts a gorgeous waterfall, a miniature lake, rock-paved paths, and two levels of relaxing garden spaces – the lower louder with the sounds of rushing water, the higher quietly overlooking the area and accessible by steps.

Good for a half-hour visit or longer if hosting an event, the Kyoto Garden is adjacent to the long-closed Thousand Cranes restaurant, which currently serves as a ballroom meeting space with a particularly nice view. Admission is free for hotel guests and meeting attendees; the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden in Long Beach is considerably larger and open to the general public.
