Unu Cafe

From the outside, where it blends into the same crowded Westminster plaza hosting long-time central Vietnamese restaurant Quan Vy Da and coffee shop La Ka Viet, you’d never know that Unu Cafe was serving some of Orange County’s most complex boba drinks and Vietnamese desserts. Apart from an atypically busy rear counter, the space looks more like a convenience store than a cafe, with no seating or tables. Peer into the display refrigerators and you’ll find Vietnamese treats ranging from miniature macaron cookies and savory snacks to bottles of salted coffee. But the real magic is happening at that rear counter.

Most of the menu focuses on fruit teas, milk teas, cheese foam teas, and yogurt desserts that hover in the $6-7 range before customizations. Behind the counter, you’ll spot a large collection of pre-made jellies, frequently restocked from silicone molds, each sold for $1-2 per scoop or piece. Unu calls itself “the boba shop with the most topping in OC,” and it’s certainly correct: There are nearly 30 different options including boba variants, which here are the least interesting choices, by far.

Over time, we’ve sampled choices ranging from chocolate panna cotta to coconut bunny- and flower-shaped jellies to Thai tea koi jellies, water chestnut balls, and corn jellies, but unfortunately, Unu’s printed list specifically identifying each of these toppings disappeared at some point in 2026. As such, guests need to guess whether the colorful items are filled with cheese, flavored with pandan, or made with chocolate jelly; you can ask item-by-item if you want, though doing so may hold up the line behind you.
