Maison de Croissant
Inside an Irvine supermarket, a Korean interpretation of French macarons, croffles, and taiyaki
Located inside the H Mart at Irvine’s Diamond Jamboree shopping plaza, Maison de Croissant sells Korean-style interpretations of French macaron cookies, croissants, taiyaki, croffles, and drinks. It has been operating for a couple of years from a food court counter near the store’s entrance.
A wide variety of brightly colored macarons caught our attention when we visited H Mart for other items. We tried a half-dozen of the cookies, but unfortunately found very few of them to be as intensely flavored as they were colored.
It’s unclear whether the croissants and taiyaki (red bean, Nutella, custard) are baked here or elsewhere, but the croffles appear to be freshly topped with cream piping, fruit, and syrups – and should be right off the waffle iron, but apparently aren’t always. We haven’t felt a great need to return for a second round of anything here, but would consider doing so to sample more of the menu.
