Beautiful hot drinks and more in a tastefully decorated Huntington Beach cafe
There are times when we just want to spend the morning eating and drinking beautiful things. Nightingale in Huntington Beach is built for that purpose, offering a small menu of brunchy dishes, coffees, and cocktails that pop with unexpected colors and mostly expected flavors. Some of the items here, including a purple-accented Lavender Coffee and green-tinted Salted Caramel Coffee (shown with a regular Mocha), are just stunning, and the classy, modern interior design feels well suited to rose gold lovers and their partners thanks to a focus on two-person seating arrangements.
With the exception of Tres Leches Hot Cakes – two large and delicious pancakes with plenty of cream, crumbles, and syrup – everything else looked a little better than it tasted. Avocado Toast and Smoked Salmon Toast were both fine, made with different eggs to order, but each was a little “off” for its own reasons.
If the lavender, caramel, and mocha lattes had tasted as strong as their colors, we would have already visited again for hot beverages alone. We expect to return at some point and see whether Nightingale’s flavors have caught up with the aesthetics.
