A&B Seafood by Bep Viet
Little Saigon restaurant was briefly known for banh canh soup and discounted daily specials
A&B Seafood by Bep Viet made more of a splash in local media than it did in the Orange County dining scene: The original Bep Viet opened in Garden Grove during the summer of 2021 and closed in 2022, then was replaced by A&B Seafood by Bep Viet, which opened in May 2022. Though its menu wasn’t incredibly distinctive by Little Saigon standards, hype briefly focused on the Banh Canh soup – a Vietnamese take on Japanese udon with a bright red broth, which here had a mild flavor that made the quality noodles and choice of seafood (shrimp, crawfish, and/or clams) stand out.
A&B tried aggressive discounting to attract interest, offering a Vietnamese filet mignon breakfast skillet (bo ne) special every morning, blue crab special every afternoon, crawfish special every night, and banh canh all day. We found the service to be friendly, though not especially polished, and the portion sizes to be reasonable for the prices. That said, we didn’t feel a need to go back, and A&B Seafood closed in July 2023.
